I am not who you think am by Heather Bowring

Tactile Art

It’s been a pleasure to work with artist Heather Bowring on her new website. Heather is a self-taught artist who has developed a new style of tactile relief work paintings which are meant to be touched.

It has brought art to the previously excluded audience of the blind and visually impaired.

Heather wanted a new site which would raise her profile as an artist and also showcase her wonderful collection of more than 80 paintings.

The site at heatherbowring.com was built using WordPress with the Mist theme which is geared to displaying artists’ portfolios.

Heather said: “Thanks to your incredible attention to detail, interpretation of what I was looking for, along with your patience and understanding, I now have an amazing new website.

“I am absolutely delighted with it. Thank you.”

Sunday Moochino on iPad

Comedy Podcast

Web design projects aren’t normally a laugh a minute, but working with Alun Newman on his series of comedy podcasts, The Sunday Moochino, was certainly great fun.

Alun wanted a podcast feed set up to allow his 10 episodes of a spoof phone-in radio show to be distributed on iTunes and other platforms, as well as an accompanying website.

“The reason I approached Drumlin Productions was because I’m no development expert. I knew how I wanted my site to look good and work.  I had a clear idea how the site should offer the product but no idea how to actually do any of it (without it looking like a college project).

“I had already heard through a friend who used Drumlin Productions, how please he was with the service. My friend’s web site was quickly top of Google search and was really well optimized, not only that, it looked great and was easy to navigate.

“After one meeting with Stephen he created a template and I was free to start suggesting ideas, colours and functionality.

“What I really liked was the direction and clarity Stephen gave advice, the speed in which the project developed and the polished look and feel of the final product.

“All the elements, I had no idea how to do, syncing of rss feeds, getting into iTunes, Google+ and the seemingly never ending list of social interaction access points were just done and working. The concept I had drawn down in my sketch pad was now owned by me and gazing back at me through the screen of my laptop – it was a fantastic moment.

“Any issues that did arise in the testing phase were sorted immediately, if not sometimes within hours of finding any issues.

“These projects are often a strange combination of business, passion and art. To feel understood and not railroaded into a standard format is, in my opinion, vitally important. If you wanted a designer to work both with you and for you then this is the business I would recommend.”

You can still listen to all the hilarious episodes of the Sunday Moochino Comedy Podcast at Sundaymoochino.com.
